Bye Bye 2017 - A Roller Coaster Year of our Life!!

Oh, what a year it was!! Full of surprises and uncertainties. Many plans that didn't fall into place, and many things that life planned for us. But I am grateful to God for He enabled us to see the blessings in disguise everywhere.
The year began unusual, as there was no New Year/birthday party at home since most friends were out of town and I wasn't well. But thanks to Vanshi-Chandana who came over and clicked some lovely pictures of cake cutting for my first birthday with Pari!!

Then our long-awaited vacations trip to Florida canceled unexpectedly due to flight delays and missed connections, but felt thankful that God kept us safe and snuggled in our home with a snow resort kind of vacation.

My firm belief in life being smarter than us gets reinforced, when I think in retrospect, how we decided to spend our sabbatical and bonding leaves at India leaving all our previous plans of the world tour, Europe, and Australia vacations aside. We didn't know then that my Father-in-Law will be hospitalized for 2 months for a major infection that will end up amputating his left big toe and we thanked God a thousand times in our hearts for enabling us to be there with him at this hard time.  We got to spend 3.5 months of vacations in India with our families, especially being able to take care of our Father in law in hospital. Few moments from India Trip 2017 and our small trip to Thailand during the first half of the year.

We feel so fortunate to have a constant support from our families and friends. My sister and her son Lavi came to US with us to spend their summers and care for Pari upon our return to US. Rahul and Anshi also came to attend our lovely Pari's First Birthday. Few moments from the humble celebration. Thanks to all friends and family for joining us in our joy. And special thanks to Mom and Dad for your unwavering support in taking care of all of us in our tough times.

The second half of the year was the steepest part of this year's ride!! Gaurav interviewed relentlessly as he came to know that Intel is closing its NDG department in Hillsboro. With a commendable determination, persistence and 3 months of hard work, he finally got amazing offers to choose from. We were blessed to get all 5 of his offers on the auspicious day of Ananth Chaturdashi. The 2 most contending ones of those were Microsoft in Seattle and Google in Mountain View. It was a hard decision to leave our beautiful home and lovely friends in Hillsboro, but we took the steps forward and here we are - at the heart of the Silicon Valley!!

There is still a lot to be done. Many plans to be made, many times to fail and learn our lessons. But with God's grace, we will get up, dust off and move ahead as I read somewhere - Fierce, Fearless and Flawed. And with utmost gratitude for the blessings - some apparent and some in disguise!!

Welcome, 2018 - Bring it On!!
